Personal Trainer and Nutritional Advisor
Who am I?
Firstly, hello :) I’m Nathan, aged 26 at the time of writing and currently working as a personal trainer at Jetts in Colton (Leeds). I’m a Yorkshire lad, born in the great city of Leeds, and clearly I’ve not flown far from the nest.
I’ve been working in the fitness industry for over 3 years, with experience in multiple gyms and time as an online coach. During this period, I have also qualified as a nutritional advisor, obtaining certifications in a wide range of areas from pre- and postnatal nutrition to nutrition for sport.
Prioritising health is a huge priority for me, and training to maintain as much function as I can in my creaky bones for as long as possible is my motivation. I want to be running rings around my carers when I’m 85. For now, I don’t have to spend too much time worrying about keeping myself out of a Zimmer frame, so I spend my training hours bouldering alongside a nice spread of resistance and aerobic training variation to support my long-term goals and enjoy myself while I’m doing it.
I believe it’s important for people to know what I believe, especially if you’re considering coming on board as a client. Read more about my belief systems here:
Why did I join the fitness industry?
First and foremost, I want to see the nation’s health improve. In my opinion, the UK has one of the worst standards of healthy living in the West, and I want to help stop the rise in increasing levels of chronic preventable disease and obesity levels in the UK. I believe that a lack of clear understanding, poor communication from those with the answers, and insufficient investment and clear policy from the government have contributed to many people not fully grasping the consequences of their decisions and how those decisions affect their health. For example, obesity alone can reduce lifespan by as much as 10 years and engaging in 4 negative behaviours (out of poor sleep, poor nutrition, smoking, alcohol consumption and sedentary lifestyle) has been associated with a 14-year reduction in life expectancy. On top of this, it has been estimated that poor nutrition alone costs the NHS 6 billion a year, with a further 19 billion to the country as a whole and is attributed to 33% of cancers!! It seems crazy to me that more people aren’t investing in improving their health and lifestyle. Not only this, but living a healthy lifestyle is so much more freeing. Coming from someone who has done both, living on sugar and food with no nutrients, having a very sedentary lifestyle and feeling constantly rubbish, to eating a wide range of plants, healthy fats and proteins and exercising daily. The difference is night and day. My body feels so much better. I want to encourage more people to make that transformation.
Another reason I’m so passionate about fitness, health and nutrition is that I used to be very unwell. Back in 2017/18, I had a condition called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Although it’s a complex condition with many potential causes, I partly attribute my previous ill health to my poor food choices. I can say that with confidence, as I had some blood work done, which found I was lacking in many vitamins and minerals needed to sustain normal and healthy body function. I have now thankfully fully recovered. Whilst that was a highly unpleasant couple of years, it did kickstart my brain into wanting to know as much as possible about the brain and body, and how best to look after both. I now look back and see that as a precursor to pursuing a career in the fitness industry.
The good news is, I can confidently say that health setbacks are not inevitable as long as you take precautionary steps to prevent them! And I strongly believe that prevention through education and subsequent lifestyle changes is the key to safeguarding your health and improving the trajectory of the nation.
My areas of focus
Coaching for weight management, healthy living and strength and conditioning
Coaching plays a transformative role by providing structured support that extends far beyond diet and exercise advice. Through my coaching, you’ll gain clarity on your goals and develop sustainable behaviour change strategies tailored to your unique circumstances and challenges.
The process is fundamentally data-driven and goal-focused, using measurable metrics—whether that be weight, fitness levels, or other health markers to track progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
Rather than pursuing rapid transformations, my coaching style emphasises gradual, sustainable changes, recognising that lasting results stem from building new habits and mindsets, and ensuring the environment you’re in supports the change you’re making.
This long-term perspective enables my clients to achieve not just short-term weight loss but genuine lifestyle transformation, improved well-being, and all-around healthier living.
Throughout this journey, the accountability that I provide through regular check-ins, progress reviews, and honest feedback helps the motivation and commitment needed to navigate obstacles and maintain momentum.
My coaching is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, resilience, strength and support systems necessary for lasting success.
